Friday 10th July - The Scottish Tapestry - Galashiels

The Art Appreciation group is organising a trip to Galashiels to see the Scottish Tapestry and to visit Gala House. The cost will be around £35.

The tapestry ( really numerous embroideries) is really outstanding with beautiful colourful designs representing a  fascinating history of Scotland. The building has been designed to exhibit this and has a good cafe too.

Less than 10 minutes walk away is Old Gala House. The building dates back to 1583. It was once the  home of the Lairds of Galashiel , it now has a museum and gallery, as well as lovely gardens. The painted wooden ceiling dates back to 1635 and the next room  has ornate 18th century plasterwork .

If you would like to attend please contact the Group Leader, Sue Bairstow or Pat Ashton.
